1) Was WedPics a part of your special day?

We signed up for Wedpics after going to the big southern bridal show in Raleigh.  I used it for my bachelorette party, my bridal shower, rehearsal, the wedding and our honeymoon. I think all the guests really liked it!

2) If you could choose just one, what was your favorite moment from the wedding weekend?

This is a hard one because there are so many. We walked to the capital from our venue to take pictures and a city of Raleigh firetruck drove by and sounded the horns for us so that was pretty cool!

3) What kind of personal touches did you add to your wedding?

I did a lot of DIY things for my wedding and it was a real labor of love. My theme was kind of a woodsy fall wedding. I did all the paper goods for the wedding including the invitations printed on wood. My maid of honor and I made a photobooth wall for cocktail hour and we had a poloroid camera down there so people could take a real picture home with them. I also did a thumbprint tree guestbook, and created my own seating chart that I put in a homemade birch bark frame. All the flowers were done by my mom who is a florist, and my wedding planner Julie Morrissey and her husband (a landscaper) got me tree stumps to use on my aisle and for the tables. I think I glittered about 50 pickle jars and votive holders for candles and spray painted a ton of frames and decor gold to match my theme. My husband and I made jam for our favors, even picking our own strawberries for it. One of the coolest things we had was a midnight snack from Cookout delivered to our venue. Everyone loved it!

4) If you could give one piece advice for future couples planning their wedding, what would that be?

If I could give one piece of advice it’s that it’s okay to ask for help. I thought since I was such a DIY bride it wouldn’t be okay to ask for help from bridesmaids or family and that it was my day so I had to do it all. Once I figured out that it was okay to let some jobs go and ask for help it made me a lot more relaxed and it was fun to work on projects with other people. My wedding coordinator was also key in making sure I wasn’t doing everything on my wedding. After the day started I couldn’t even imagine how stressful it would have been to do all of it alone.

Congrats to Rachelle & Andrew, recent newlyweds who have been kind enough to share their wedding journey with our blog!  Hear from them on planning their wedding, drawing inspiration and their one piece of advice to future newlyweds!

1) Was WedPics a part of your special day?

YES! We used it starting with all the planning and wedding events leading up to the actual wedding. Wedpics was very easy to use. I utilized the cards provided by Wedpics and sent them out with our Save The Dates. They were placed on tables at our Wedding Shower. During the wedding, it was great to see people uploading live pictures from angles our photographer did not get a chance to get.

2) If you could choose just one, what was your favorite moment from the wedding weekend?

My favorite moment was when I first saw my groom and the moment I reached him after walking the aisle he says, “You look beautiful.”

3) What traditions did you choose to use for your wedding and which ones did you go out of your way to leave out?

We did the traditional Catholic wedding along with the Filipino traditional money dance. We included the Russian “gorka” since my husband is half Russian. We opted to combine the mother/son, father/daughter dance in order to not drag on the reception.

4) What kind of personal touches did you add to your wedding?

Our table numbers and escort cards were designed with Andrew’s Air Jordan shoe collection in mind.

RELAX, it will all fall into place.

1) If you could give one piece advice for future couples planning their wedding, what would that be?

My advice would be to do whatever it is YOU want to do.  Don’t listen to anyone else who tries to tell you they would or wouldn’t do something you were thinking of doing.  If you don’t do it your way, you will always regret it.  Also, take a minute and step back with your spouse and take it all in for a minute.  The day flies by and before you know it is over.  Take a minute and remember what it felt like in that moment to be surrounded by so much love.

2) Did you use WedPics for your wedding?  Tell us a little bit about why you chose to use Wedpics and how did it work out for you?

We did use WedPics, and we really liked having that feature at our wedding. We placed the instructional cards on everyone’s table, and many guests uploaded pictures. It was nice going to our hotel once the wedding was over and seeing a bunch of pictures uploaded. It really gives a look of how the night went since you’re almost too nervous and excited to notice! Also, the pictures are great at tiding everyone over until the professional pictures are ready.

3) If you could choose just one, what was your favorite moment from the wedding weekend?

Walking down the aisle only to see the huge smile on my (then) fiance’s face!

4) What kind of personal touches did you add to your wedding?

We used artificial flowers and a handmade wishing well box. We also had a canopy over our table at the hall. Fabrizio  is a huge football junky, so we chose to go with our unique ‘tribute to football’ cake topper!

 1) If you could choose just one, what was your favorite moment from the wedding weekend?

Choosing just one moment of my wedding weekend truely is difficult! However, I would have to say one of the most special moments was after we were announced as Mr and Mrs and walked down the isle, we reentered through doors in front of the church and greeted each row of our guests to excuse them from the church pews. We felt this was a way for us to thank each guest individually for coming and to spend a moment each of them as some of our guests weren’t coming to the reception. It also made the recieving line go faster and less wait time for those standing.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

2) What wedding traditions did you incorporate into your wedding and which ones did you intentionally leave out?

My husband and I agreed on both including traditions and excluding certain traditions. During the wedding ceremony itself. I wore a traditional vail however I did not want to/didn’t wear it over my face. We had the traditional church wedding where my father gave me away to my husband in a Baptist service. At the wedding reception we did not do a garder toss. It didn’t fit our styles do to this in front of our families. And we found that with both of us being in our 30’s (he in his later 30’s) we found this tradition to be less tactful. We gave each other wedding gifts before the wedding ceremony began.

3) What kind of personal touches did you add to your wedding?

My style of decore at home is very rustic in nature and my husband loves International Harvester Tractors. We were able incorporate both in our wedding. I was able to use many natural elements throughout the day, including decorations with pinecones, peices of wood for our cake displays, recycled aluminumn food cans (that we cleaned and decorated) for decorations. And  I surprised my husband with an International Harvester Tractor ice sculpture from a local vendor.

4) If you could give one piece advice for future couples planning their wedding, what would that be?

If I could give one piece of advice to any future bride and grooms I would encourage them to slow down, take in every moment and make sure you have a professional photographer and friends taking snapshots throughout the day for you. My sister married a few years back and hired a family friend to take her wedding photos, unfortunatly not a single picture turned out of her day. She however relied heavily on guest pictures. Using Webpics is an excellent idea. I would also encourage you to hire someone with professionl equipment that has experience. I got married only a bit over a month ago but I frequently look at our pictures and am so happy we had a professional photogrpher!
