Things That Engaged People Do That Will Lovingly Get You Unfollowed on Social Media

We all have our social media faux-pas, to make everyone following us #jealous. But, when it comes to your wedding, posts should be pretty serious considering your love and happiness speak for themselves. Sharing is the point of being on these social media channels, but oversharing can get you #unfollowed. Here are some of the things engaged people do that might get us to block you for a little while:

Somehow incorporating your ring into every post

We get it, we love it, it’s big, it’s shiny.  And I don’t have one.  Now do not get us wrong, we definitely want to see it. Definitely. But, maybe just once or twice. By your fifth post we start worrying about your mortgage payments, and become too invested in your finances.

Posting a daily countdown to your wedding day

blog3

Listen, I like you and all, but do I need to know you are 327 days from your wedding day? No, I do not. Suggestion: Post the big milestones if you want to keep people excited, but not bitter, about your wedding bliss. 100 days out, one week out, then here.

Step-by-step planning posts

Did you invite all of your Facebook friends to your wedding? Most likely, no. So posting step-by-step photos of cake tasting, venue choosing, food eating, registry entering, etc. might seem inconsiderate. Solution: share these moments in WedPics App (duh).  Create specific albums related to planning, bridal shower, engagement photos, etc.  And invite the friends/family that you want to share these private events with.

Changing your status to “Married” on your wedding day

blog5

You guys. Please, please do not let the world know you are so obsessed with updating Facebook that you are on your phone on your wedding day. This day should be unplugged, and about you, your spouse, and your loved ones. Solution: do not bring your phone.

Posting updates of your honeymoon

blog6

It is your honeymoon! That was expensive! And, that is about love! Not Instagram! Your family will be excited to recap with you after the trip, but this is you time. No need to post selfies with #bae in Aruba.

Posting your entire engagement/wedding album

blog7 Highlights? Yes. All 250 photos? No.

I think we got the hint when you get married that you guys are into each other. You have definitely moved past the “crush” stage, along with the need-to-proclaim-your-love-through-social-media stage.

And ALL that said, your wedding is all about YOU!  You do WHATEVER makes you happy.  The End!
