Hi, I'm Krisstin from On the Go Bride. I started On the Go Bride as a resource for brides planning their weddings. I wanted to create not only a place for wedding inspiration, but also a place filled with lots of education. I'm really excited to share some of my experience with all of you as a guest blogger on the Wedding Party today! I hope you enjoy my tips on how to choose your wedding photographer!

Finding the right photographer for your wedding can be a challenge. You want to find someone that fits your style, that you are inspired by, and someone that fits into you budget. Most importantly, you want to find someone that will do a quality job. We’ve all heard stories from past brides that have had bad experiences with their photographers. Do you have a friend who didn’t get the best service from their photographer? How about the person who spent a lot of money to end up with less than quality photos? Or worse, the friend that ended up with blurry images. Here are some great tips to find the best photographer for your special day. Because when your day is over, the photos are what you will have left.
When interviewing photographers for your wedding day, be sure to ask to see an entire collection of photos from a specific wedding photo you like. Many photographers will show you an album with multiple weddings inside. These photos are going to be their best work. If you view an entire collection, you can see how your photographer produces images in all different settings. What if you have an outdoor ceremony followed by an indoor reception? You want to make sure your photographer can capture all different lighting situations of your wedding day!
It is important to make sure your photographer has a backup plan. Let’s face it: life happens. Sometimes situations are out of your control. Asking your photographer if they use backup equipment is important. Electronics can malfunction. Or how about whether or not your photographer uses a second shooter? What if they have a family emergency on your wedding day? Knowing they have backup plans to ensure your day will go off without a hitch will leave you worry free.
One of the most important things you want to do is make sure that you and your photographer click. They are going to be right by your side for your entire wedding day. Is this person someone you could see as a friend? You want to hire a photographer that you would want to hang out with personally. Feeling comfortable around them will result in the most natural looking photos.
You’ve found your photographer, now what? Be sure to ask about the details. Every photographer is different and runs their business differently. Find out about deliverables. How long can you expect before they have your images to you? Find out if they give you rights to digital images. Decide on what you expect to receive from your photographer and address those items. A good contract is going to spell everything out clearly so there are no surprises later.
To help you find the perfect photographer, we have drafted up a wonderful questionnaire. Take this questionnaire with you as a guideline to remember some of the important questions you want to ask. We hope this helps you to find the best photographer for your wedding day and makes it a day to remember!
