You and your fiancé have painstakingly worked through the seating chart making sure that all your guests have been strategically placed near the dance floor or near family, but have you thought about how they will find their seats? With unique escort cards, of course!
First things first, is there a difference between escort cards and place cards? The answer is yes!! The difference being a place card states exactly where the guest should be seated. Usually a very formal affair, plated dinner or small intimate wedding will call for place cards, but an escort card is always needed because this directs the guest to their seats.
Consider using one of these unique escort card ideas as another opportunity for you to incorporate your theme, and add a little more flare and charm to the wedding.
1. Keeping it traditional
Sometimes when people hear the word traditional they often confuse it with being boring. I personally don't think the two have to go hand in hand when you're planning a wedding. When it comes escort card placement, traditional just means that you are using the cards as we know them, but it doesn't mean they are just laying on a table in perfect lines.
You can bring in elements from your stationery line to tie everything together or have the cards laying on a bed a flowers to add a little more drama for guests picking up their cards.

2. Incorporate your theme
Sometimes the first hint at your theme is when your guests walk into the reception. As they say, the devil is in the details, and when it comes to your escort cards, this is one way to get those little details seen!

3. Give a gift and keep it unique
The hardest time I had with my wedding was figuring out what favor to share with my guests. It never occurred to me to use the gift as part of the escort cards!! One of these clever ideas below is the perfect way to kill two birds with one stone.

4. Large scale table assignments
A recent trend with escort cards is not a card at all, but rather having table assignments written on windows, mirrors, or chalkboards!
Keep in mind the flow of your wedding since you don't want guests hovering around the assignments. Keep it easy for them and make sure names are clearly written and neatly organized.

You can be as unique or as conventional as you like, but with so many ways to make your wedding stand out it's so easy to have it truly be you! When my best friend got married she was able to tie her last name into the escort cards and had guest names written out on limes, an ode to her maiden name!
Just to recap: think of escort cards as your hostess at a restaurant. It leads you to your table and is your first foray into the wedding you have planned.
What type of seating selection would you go with?
