When registering for wedding gifts, it's hard to know where to start. What do you need? What's practical, what's trivial (but fun!) and how many of each should you put on your wedding registry? The experts from Zola, the all-in-one, flexible registry, are here to tell you what you just can't forget to register for.

Thinking about what to put in your newlywed home can be overwhelming. After all, it’s your home for happily ever after, and there are so many ways you could fill it. What style of home décor do you want? Which blender is right for you? How much space do you have for your new gifts? Bottom line: there is no right answer to what you should register for. But, we have a few recommendations on what to think about while you’re going through the process, and gifts you definitely shouldn’t miss out on!

1. A Kitchen Upgrade

We firmly believe you should treat yourselves to a kitchen upgrade, and Breville’s Mini Smart Oven is the item we’ve had our eye on. This little oven thinks big – even in small spaces – and comes fully tricked out with bake, broil, and roast settings, not to mention one just for cookies! If you’re living in an apartment (and trying to conserve counter space) or simply cooking meals for two, then definitely add this to your registry. We like to think it was made especially for the newlywed couple.

2. A Versatile Cutting Board

We love it when a registry gift will go the distance for you, and Vermont Farm Table’s French Paddle certainly does that. This board will quickly become a staple in your kitchen, as you can use it to slice and dice to your heart’s content without having to worry about humidity or weather impacting its performance. Having a few friends over? Dress it up the next time you’re entertaining with a cheese spread or hors d'oeuvres.

3. Kate Spade’s Two of a Kind “Ours” Decanter

When else are you going to have the chance to register for an “Ours” decanter?! Though it may not seem up your alley, this decanter will forever remind you of your special day. Break it out for special occasions or when it’s just the two of you relaxing with a bottle together.

4. A Cozy Blanket

Don’t underestimate the power of a nice, warm blanket. Whether it’s for Sunday afternoons on the couch, reading by the fire on chilly winter days, or date nights in with a movie, you’ll both use this all the time. Our current go-to is Nine Space’s Bali Throw. With a fun, but simple, design, this throw will complement any room in your newlywed home, making it that much cozier!

5. An Experience!

At the end of the day, what matters most is time together. After you’ve selected your pots, pans, your favorite set of dinnerware and those pillows you’ve had your eye on, think about how you two spend time together. Do you love to cook? Are you cheese connoisseurs or fanatics of the outdoors? Add a Monthly Cheese Subscription, a couples hike, or a picnic basket for your next romantic excursion out.
